The only reason I added the axolotl pride pin to this website is obviously because it’s so cute.

Axolotls are often used in science because they have the rare ability to regrow parts of their body, including entire limbs, eyes and brains. They also remain forever youthful, which in axolotl terms means they keep their external gills and remain fully aquatic, which is usually something that other amphibians grow out of through metamorphosis; think tadpoles vs the adult frog.

Axolotle means “water sprite” in Nahuatl, an Aztec language from Mexico.
