More sea creatures to wear, like these timeless blue seahorse earrings.

Inspired by Ancient Greek jewellery, these are made of light resin, red coral beads (or so they claim to be, but never mind, cute colour) and gold-plated fittings.

Did you know Aotearoa’s seahorses are humungous? I spent hours looking for them, day and night, on Waiheke, where there were said to be some, and I utterly failed, mostly because I was looking for teeny tiny things, and didn’t even scan for anything large. Fully grown seahorses here, large-bellied seahorses they’re called, reach 35cm in size!

I finally saw one for a short moment in not quite a cave, but a small cove underneath some rocks at Tawharanui, in very murky water in late 2024. Blink and it’s gone. A bucket list tick for sure!
