I don’t even know what more to say than mentioning the fact that we just adore frogs and lizards at our house! Frog rings? That’s a yes!

Disclaimer: This is one of those products that I found online, wanted for myself and got a few more to share.

These rings are made out of 14k-gold-plated zinc alloy, enamel-covered, resizable and run small. They can be resized by gently bending them, but you’d have to do that yourself.

I needed frog rings

I’m not into hard-selling anyone anything they don’t need, I see it more as a sort of sharing of cute things I encounter, that I couldn’t create myself, e.g. jewellery cast of metal. These are so up my alley, the colour, the shape, the little frog fingers holding on to your finger…!

In Aotearoa, we only have three native kinds of frog that haven’t changed much for the last 70 million years.

There’s some nice info on the DOC website, if you’d like to know more, here’s a small excerpt:

They are small, nocturnal and hard to see as they camouflage themselves well. Two of our species, Archey’s and Hamilton’s frog, live on land in shady, moist forested areas, and the Horchstetter’s frog is semi-aquatic, living on stream edges.

New Zealand’s native frogs have several distinctive features that make them very different from frogs elsewhere in the world:

• they have no external eardrum
• they have round (not slit) eyes
• they don’t croak regularly like most frogs.

Pretty cool, huh? These frogs aren’t those, but do go check out photos of our natives online – they’re also cute, and one day when I’m better at sculpting, I’d love to make native frog rings from scratch.
