With great thanks to Winter Glow, the Gribblehirst Community Hub and the Albert-Eden Local Board, I’d love to invite you to an all-ages rainbow polymer clay earring workshop.

All you need to bring along is yourself and some happy vibes.

In a small group, we’ll create some simple rainbow pendants to turn into necklaces or earrings – your choice, be as creative as you wish! You’ll get some clay in all colours of the rainbow, and where you’d like to take it is all up to you!

We’ll have about an hour to create, then we bake them, then assemble!

Available for all participants will be

• Clay in all colours of the rainbow! Whatever is left, you get to take home!
• Clay rollers (to use, not to take home! ❤️)
• Clay cutters (to use, not to take home! ❤️)
• Eye screws, to keep
• A choice of 2 earring hooks or 2 bails to attach your creation to a necklace, to keep.

When?

Wednesday, July 1: 4.45pm check-in and setup, punctual 5pm start.

Where?

Gribblehirst Community Hub, 5 Cabbage Tree Swamp Drive, Sandringham, Auckland – plenty of parking for cars and bikes available, close to public transport.

T&Cs

• All ages are welcome, under 14s if accompanied by a guardian.
• The Hub is accessible, but please get in touch so we can arrange it for you to go smoothly.
• You are welcome to bring your own tools along!
• We’ll ask you to forward us your last Hub membership confirmation email if that’s what you’re booked as. Your membership needs to be valid until the day after our workshop.
• CSC cards and ID will be checked before the class to ensure you’ve got the right ticket. In case you forgot your CSC, you can opt into paying the difference between the full ticket to still be able to participate; don’t worry: We’ll have EFTPOS on site if needed.
• Without a Community Services Card and ID of the same name presented on the night, the unwaged tickets won’t be refunded.
• All bookings can be cancelled and refunded on request until June 24, 6pm by emailing silke@pocomoto.co.nz– no explanation required.
• From June 24, 6pm – April 6, 11.59pm we’ll refund 50% on cancellations. Please email silke@pocomoto.co.nz.
• After April June 28, we can’t refund standard tickets – but you can still pick up your clay, some eye pins and hooks in Eden Terrace another time, if you like. Get in touch!

We most warmly welcome other nationalities, new migrants, refugees, mums (and kids), the broader LGBTQIA+ community, pensioners – any and all who are keen to mingle without prejudice. This is a welcoming, supportive and nurturing space for everyone, a “woke” space, so if in any way, you feel that doesn’t suit you, this may not be the class for you, with all love and respect. ❤️

To make this more inclusive, as a member of the GHub or as a Community Service Card holder, you can attend this class for free, and your bond will be refunded after the class. Remember to present your CSC (not gold card!) and ID, if you fall into that category.

About Silke

A few years ago I had a bike accident that wreaked all sorts of havoc, including breaking my right hand in weird spots. Physio recommended doing exercises like picking up and holding tiny things, so I started making earrings, which turned out to be utterly addictive as a hobby, and subsequently, I created thousands and thousands of earrings. It’s like knitting, very calming. My favourite earrings are made with resin charms I create myself, and sometimes I paint unusual things like toys brightly to hopefully bring extra joy to someone’s style. I think you could make earrings out of anything and everything, and I am keen to explore that.

I hope this class can be a relaxed way of trying something new for everyone, something you can run with and keep extending your knowledge to find your own way of doing it.
