Attenuators – Best value earplugs in Aotearoa

$30.00$270.00

These are the best value earplugs you can find in Aotearoa! ‘Earplugs’ is not the right word here – strictly speaking, they’re attenuators, meaning instead of just muffling the sound, they just turn the volume down, and you’ll still be able to enjoy the music.

Description

Pocos are the best value earplugs you can find in Aotearoa! ‘Earplugs’ is not the right word here – strictly speaking, they’re attenuators, meaning instead of just muffling the sound, they just turn the volume down, and you’ll still be able to enjoy the music.

Poco Moto attenuators were designed to protect human audition, especially working in high-noise environments. The key component-filter is designed to ensure regular communication while noise is reduced.

• Medical-grade hypo-allergenic plush soft silicone
• Eco-friendly because it’s reusable many times
• Anti-earwax design
• Dust-proof
• Moulds to the shape of any ear canal
• Certified CE EN352-2
• 15db filter, which should take the edge off most loud concerts without losing the quality of the sound
• Durable aluminium keychain container
• Optional silicon cord – I prefer using it, so I don’t lose my earplugs in the dark.

Earplugs you can trust. Tried and true.

This sort of earplug is constantly rated as one of the “top 10 earplugs for musicians” – you can google that and compare the pictures and specs, if you wish.

These aren’t “knock-offs”, but exactly made by the same people who make bigger, more expensive brands and sell them for more, but because I don’t have a huge brand or major expenses, they’re more affordable.

If you’re looking for a comparison of identical models, check out these here (just under NZ$60), these (around $55), and these (over $140, sheesh!). Sets, Vibes, Eargasm: All the same earplug when it comes down to it, in different colours and packaging variations, made by the same three or so manufacturers.

All the same quality as these here, but more expensive.

Silke:

My personal pair, I’ve owned and used since July 2020. I bought it on a whim to try it, and have never looked back. I see about 3-4 shows per week for work, loud, with me sometimes sitting next to the stage to sell tickets or merch, look after a photopit right by the huge speakers – just generally exposed to a lot of noise. In the past, I would just stuff toilet paper up the ears for protection, because I hated the way normal earplugs feel, and then the sound would be awful, which sucks if you’re a music fan. These are much more comfortable.

They allow me to keep my hearing safe, and to still enjoy the music or have a conversation. I’d go as far as to say, hey, the music actually sounds better with them on, and I get more of the nuances, in much higher clarity, than without the attenuators.

I decided to add cords, because I find that if you buy nice earplugs, get to a gig, get them out in the dark while people shove you from all sides, you easily drop one, and it’s gone for good. The cord also allows me to have a break from them, and wear them around my neck or over my ears during an interval. You can take the cords off easily if you don’t enjoy them.

I picked this container because I hate the tiny, fiddly ones. It sucks when it’s hard to store everything after using them. This container was the biggest one of its kind that was still small enough not to be annoying, and you can attach it to your handbag, backpack or keys. I’m never without them, they’re always there – no need to remember to take them along when I really need them.

If you look after them, these earplugs will last you forever! Every once in a while I chuck my pair into the dishwasher, let them dry out completely afterwards before repacking – works a treat, because the material is basically just differently shaped bakeware. You can also put a drop of dishwashing liquid into the palm of your hand and gentle rub off the dirt before rinsing it in warm water.

By now I’ve sold thousands of these earplugs at gigs, festivals and online, and get the most wonderful feedback from music fans, drummers, brass band members, people with husbands that snore loudly, city dwellers that want to escape the noisescape, and neurodiverse crowds who still want to be present but dial down on the sensory overload. I’m genuinely happy that they’ve been so loved and make a difference to some of you guys out there!
